Zarth is a luxury brand that is distinguished by its stylistic originality combined with the superior sartorial content of its creations. Founded in 2009, by owner and head designer Zama Mathe. The company was formally established in 2012 to cater for the Durban market. Now in its 3rd year, Zarth is well established with a fully qualified team of professionals in the fashion design and textiles industry.

Zarth made its debut at Fashion By The Sea 2012 with a collection comprising of 20 looks which was hailed as the beginning of a new era for Durban fashion. Having impressed the orthodox establishment of the Durban fashion industry Zarth was then invited as a designer to partake in the Vodacom Durban July 2012.
Showing at the Durban Fashion Fair 2013 was a true defining moment for the ‘young’ brand. Inspired by femininity the DFF2013 collection quickly set the tone for Zarth’s later work and became part of the identity of the eponymous brand. Zama was then invited to judge the Young Designer Award at the 2013/2014 Durban July. In 2014 the Ethekwini municipality sponsored Zarth’s head designer’s trip to Milan to attend the Milan Fashion week 2014, Byblos, Roberto Cavalli, Mifur and just Cavalli. While in Milan, where she obtained a Certificate in Textiles and fashion, Zama also interned with Angela Atelier who is a couturier for Versace, Valentino, Cavalli, Armani Prive and Prada. The Durban fashion fair 2014 saw Zarth break boundaries once again with a collection and show that paid homage to real life heroines.
